Mixing it Up Evaluation of Process
Mixing it Up Evaluation of Process
Initial Group Ideas and what I completed in the workshops
To start our process of making the performance, we had three large sheets of paper each titled 'Physical Theatre, A midsummer Nights Dream and Me!'. In three teams we rotated the three pieces of paper until by the end every group every member of each group had added something to each of the papers. This revealed to everyone what each persons strengths were, their strengths of physical theatre and what we thought a production of A Midsummer Nights Dream needs in order to be a succession. One of the key things that happened in the groups was the ay the original play presents an antithesis between the natural and supernatural world and also between moral and immoral actions. These findings proved to be the basis of: The veil scene, the veil scene is when we are grouped up with someone else and fighting with them as one person is a baddie and the other person is a goodie. The mirror scene: baddies pulled all the good people through a veil to the bad world.
What interests me about this group project
I liked how this was a full piece of physical theatre, I've never done a project full physical theatre before so it was very different to normal and I really enjoyed it. I have also enjoyed being able to work individually and in groups with people I don't necessarily get to work all the time so it felt fresh. Another thing I really liked about this performance was how we pre recorded lines so it would play through the speakers instead of us saying it while doing the physical theatre piece. Obviously it was a Shakespeare piece but I liked how it wasn't too heavy of a Shakespeare piece, obviously we had to embody the characters but other than that it was just physical theatre from then on out.

Key moments of discovery or concerns / problems during my process
One concern myself and many in the class had was trying to work round this and our production of 'A Chorus Line', there was various weeks where we didn't have lessons because of this so we would forget what we're doing in this piece or not have enough time to finish things. For example we we're very close to not finishing and polishing the piece by the deadline. Me and Kacie found it hard to remember our duet sometimes as we done this exact piece 3 separate times in the performance so it was hard to remember what one went with what scene. Other than these myself and everyone else didn't really come across much complications.
Reflection on my contribution to the group and how well the group as a whole worked throughout the process
We never really got together as a big group to do a scene, it was always just in duos for different scenes, me and Kacie came up with a round-by-through piece that was incorporated into the performance many times which turned out really nicely as I was Bottom and she was Titania. A while back I was also partnered up with Verity to make a duo piece to show her pulling me through the gate to the bad world.
