Task 1: Exploring Techniques: Greek Theatre: Chorus Exploration

 Greek Theatre

Choral Speaking

Choral speaking is a group of people (actors) who described and commented upon the main action of a play with song, dance, and recitation.

Voice Quality / Soundscapes - This is the ability to combine the high, mid, and low voices in the group (can combine them for special effects). The ability to communicate, through voice, reactions to thoughts or emotions.

Movement - This is the ability to use your body to gesture, choreography, or other movement to grow better communication and better express meaning.

Pitch - Pitch refers to the differences of the voice on the musical scale (higher and lower voices).

Power - Ability to change the volume in your voice, as well as force or loudness as this would help emphasis to better express the feeling and meaning. A power build would be related to the elements of a sentence or growing emotion.

Tempo / Rhythm - Tempo refers to the rate of speed at which a reading progresses. The ability to balance the rhythm of your voice for a piece of work, and the tempo of a performance. The tempo should relate to the central "beat" of the poem.
